Interests: Affect and pain modulation; neurobiology of affect; neurobiology of pain; affect and health; statistical analysis with an emphasis on longitudinal methods; health psychology/ behavioral medicine; psychophysiology; neurobiology of psychological disorders.

Interests: Joanna’s research interests are in the area of Native American health and clinical child psychopathology. She is very interested in investigating markers for chronic pain risk with a desire to create culturally appropriate pain interventions. Joanna’s time outside the office is spent with her family and traveling.

Interests: Erin’s research interests include lifestyle factors contributing to chronic pain development, pain prevention and resilience, and health disparities. In her spare time, Erin enjoys board games, baking, hiking, and reading.

Interests: Parker’s research interests include the impact of sleep on health outcomes such as chronic pain, and health disparities. In his spare time, Parker enjoys running, playing board games, and spending time with his dog, Sun.


Hayden Ventresca, MA

Interests: Hayden is interested how chronic stress and bodily inflammation contribute to the development of chronic pain and mental health conditions like anxiety and depression. She is also passionate about advocacy-focused research that aims to improve physical and mental wellbeing among underserved/disadvantaged populations. Outside of school, Hayden is busy planning her wedding, organizing cohort adventures, keeping up with BookTok and snuggling her cats.


Claudia Vore, MA

Interests: Claudia’s research interests include investigating how cortical processes contribute to pain mechanisms and pain regulation, and how these processes interact with emotional and cognitive factors. Clinically, she plans to specialize in neuropsychology. In her spare time, Claudia enjoys eating sushi, watching horror movies, and grabbing drinks with her cohort.


Taylor Brown, MA

Interests: Taylor is interested in how social support, isolation, and other social relationship factors can influence the experience and perception of pain, and in how these effects can vary across different populations and contexts. Outside of the lab, Taylor enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and spending time with her cohort.


Brandon Jones, MA
2nd Year Ph.D. Student

Brandon Jones graduated from NSU with his bachelor’s in psychology and master’s in counseling. He has worked as a counseling intern with the Office of Juvenile Affairs and Family Center for Juvenile Justice. Brandon is interested in research topics such as Native American health disparities, historical trauma, community resilience, and culturally sensitive interventions. A fun fact about Brandon: he is left-handed!


Aleiyah Fields, BA
Incoming 1st Year Ph.D. Student

Aleiyah graduated with a bachelors in psychology from Oklahoma State University. At OSU, she was a McNair Scholar where she researched the challenges of Native Americans living on reservations. Aleiyah is interested in continuing research regarding Native American communities by looking at health disparities, historical trauma, and resilience factors. Outside of school, Aleiyah enjoys baking, hanging out with friends, and spending time outdoors with her fiance.
